Characterizing Characters
Three main characters:
Norah: Norah is in labor with twins and isn't able to get to the hospital fast enough for the doctor to deliver the babies which is why her husband David had to do it. Norah lives in a bubble full of happiness, that happiness gets destroyed when she hears about her daughter Phoebe being born with down syndrome. "I don't know. I feel strange. This crampy feeling, it comes and goes." This quote expresses how much pain she was going through while in labor.
David Henry: David Henry is the husband of Norah and an orthopedic surgeon who originally lived in Pennsylvania but moved to Lexington, Kentucky. David was forced to deliver his own twins because of the blizzard the doctor couldn't make it. David has a shield of "protection" he protects Norah when she hears the bad news about Phoebe."Photography is all about secrets. The secrets we all have and will never tell." David Henry has a love for photography and is always taking pictures.
Caroline Gill: Caroline is a young woman and used to be a lonely nurse, she was David's nurse to help Norah prepare. That loneliness bubble for Caroline pops when David Henry told her to take Phoebe who was born with down syndrome. Caroline tends to raise Phoebe on her own and is gonna give whatever it takes to protect Phoebe. "Since the moment she had let her head dip in faint agreement to Dr. Henry's astonishing request, Caroline had felt as if she were falling through the air in slow motion, waiting to hit land and discover where she was." This shows that she has an artistic based on the feelings she expressed.
